KIEV, March 29 – The Thai army command is to buy 200 Oplot main battle tanks from Ukraine, the Thai Bangkok Post has reported.

The value of the potential deal is estimated at about $230 million. Tank procurement is part of a 10-year package of weapons purchases the government recently approved for the army, reads the newspaper.

Ukrainian police step up security at Kiev subway after Moscow blasts

KIEV, March 29 – Ukrainian police beefed up security at the Kiev subway system on Monday hours after the double suicide bombing in Moscow had killed 38 and injured at least 65 people.

“When first reports of the explosions in Moscow subway had come out, the Kiev police have decided to strengthen security at the subway,” a police officer said.


Yanukovych denies allegations judges offered $1 mln to uphold ruling

KIEV, March 29 – President Viktor Yanukovych on Monday denied allegations that his party has been offering $1 million to each Constitutional Court judge for upholding a ruling that would recognize the governing coalition as legitimate.
