USAID halts cooperation with corruption agency after NGO e-file move

KIEV, March 28 – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has stopped cooperation with the National Agency for Corruption Prevention (NACP) due to the adoption of amendments to the e-declaration legislation, according to Deputy Justice Minister , Ruslan Riaboshapka, an NACP member. The move is in apparent reaction to the amendments’ effects on NGOs.


Poland closes its consulates in Ukraine

KIEV, March 29 - Poland temporarily closed its consulates in Ukraine after a grenade attack overnight at one of its buildings near the Polish border that Kiev said was intended to harm bilateral ties with Warsaw, Reuters reported.


Ukraine finishing work on Royal Thai Army BTR-3E1 APC contract

KIEV, March 28 – Ukraine is finishing the implementation of a contract signed in 2011 to produce and ship 121 BTR-3E1 armored personnel carriers for the Royal Thai Army.


Odessa lawmaker group demands sacking of regional prosecutor

ODESSA, March 28 - A group of Odessa regional lawmakers have signed a petition written by heads of Ukrainian regional prosecution offices for Deputy Prosecutor General and Odessa Region Prosecutor David Sakvarelidze to be sacked and barred from holding any prosecutorial office.

KIEV, March 28 – Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Groysman would like to see Dmytro Shymkiv, deputy head of the Presidential Administration, and Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, an MP from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc, in his cabinet should he be nominated as a candidate for prime minister.


Slovak asked to become finance minister

KIEV, March 28 - The frontrunner to head a new Ukrainian government has asked Slovak politician Ivan Miklos to serve as his finance minister if he becomes prime minister, a Slovak daily said on Monday, Reuters reported.

Ukrainians move to impose individual sanctions for Savchenko case

KIEV, March 25 – The Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council decided at a meeting on Friday to impose personal sanctions on individuals involved in unlawful actions against Ukrainian serviceperson and parliamentarian Nadia Savchenko, moviemaker Oleh Sentsov, and other Ukrainians held in detention in Russia.


Poroshenko appeals to EU Human Rights chief for prisoner release

KIEV, March 25 – President Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with EU Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muiznieks during which he called for release of Nadia Savchenko, who was sentenced to 22 years in prison, and other Ukrainian political prisoners detained in Russia.
