EU ready to up aid ante to help residents of eastern regions

KIEV, Aug. 18 – The European Union is ready to assist Ukraine in providing aid to residents in eastern Ukrainian territories liberated during the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) and internally displaced persons (IDP), Director of the European Commission's Humanitarian and Civil Protection Operations Jean-Louis de Brouwer said at a meeting with Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Hroisman on Monday.


Ukraine to soon start building $1 billion Odessa LNG terminal

KIEV, Aug. 18 - Ukraine will soon start building a liquefied natural gas terminal near Odessa to reduce dependence on imports of Russian gas, Oleksandr Turchynov, the speaker of Parliament, said Monday.

The $1 billion project is supposed to use a floating platform to begin LNG imports before expanding the project on-shore.


Work at steel mills, chemical plants, halted by shell attacks
