Russia’s war in Ukraine threatens global food security, World Bank says

KYIV, April 20 – Russia's invasion of Ukraine has triggered major threats to global food and nutrition security, and if food prices stay this high for a year, global poverty could go up by more than 100 million, World Bank Group President David Malpass said at the U.S. Treasury's event on "Tackling Food Insecurity: The Challenge And Call To Action."


Ukraine’s economy may contract by up to 50% in 2022: Finance Ministry

KYIV, April 20 – The Ministry of Finance expects a fall in Ukraine's GDP in 2022 ranging from 35% to 50%, Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko said.

There may be a fall from 35% to 50% in the economy this year if we take one-year outlook. The National Bank announced 41% [a fall in GDP in 2022]," he said in an interview with the Orestokratia project.
