IMF official: Ukraine's Russian debt 'not pertinent right now'

KIEV, Sept. 18 – Ukraine does not have current arrears to Russia, and the Board of Directors of the International Monetary Fund has not yet discussed the status of the $3 billion debt of Ukraine to Russia, Director of the Communications Department at IMF Gerry Rice said at a press briefing in Washington.


Ukraine energy minister continuing push for lower Russian Q4 gas price

Azarov: We won’t hike natural gas price after October election

KIEV, Sept. 20 - Ukraine will not hike domestic natural gas prices after October 28 parliamentary elections, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said Thursday.

The price hike is the key demand from the International Monetary Fund for resumption of $15.2 billion loan to Ukraine.


Senate committee calls for ex-PM release

WASHINGTON, Sept. 20 – In a stunning rebuke to Ukraine’s government, the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee has called for the release of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and proposed the State Department institute a visa ban against those responsible for the imprisonment of Tymoshenko and her political allies.


Parliament to consider bill to cancel daylight saving time in Ukraine

KIEV, Sept. 19 – Parliament has registered a draft bill on a decision to cancel daylight saving time in Ukraine, Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn said.

"There is a draft bill on a decision not to change [summer time to winter time], and I think that we'll approve it," he said during a press conference on Monday.


Yanukovych will try for gas compromise with Russians, premier says

KIEV, Sept. 19 - President Viktor Yanukovych, at an upcoming meeting with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow, will try to reach a compromise on natural gas prices, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said Tuesday.

Ukraine government brings RICO case against US pharma company

KIEV, Sept. 20 – Ukraine's government lodged a suit on September 17 in a federal court in Portland (Oregon) against a U.S. company, Olden Group, LLC, that is alleged to be part of an international conspiracy involving the fraudulent sale of vaccines and other pharmaceuticals, according to Trout Cacheris, PLLC.
