KIEV, Sept. 20 - President Petro Poroshenko and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe have discussed the prospects for implementation of projects in energy, infrastructure and ecology, as well as the preparation to hold the Year of Japan in Ukraine in 2017 at their meeting in the United States.

KIEV, Sept. 21 - Ukraine and Russian-backed separatists agreed on Wednesday to withdraw troops from three small towns on the front line in eastern Ukraine, a pilot de-escalation project that is part of the latest push to get a much-violated ceasefire to stick, Reuters reported.


NATO chief demands Russia remove weapons

LVIV, Sept. 21 – NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said on Monday an ebb in violence in eastern Ukraine was not enough to bring peace and demanded Russia withdraw heavy weapons the alliance accuses it of providing in support of separatists, Reuters reported.


Parliament MPs vote to eliminate Daylight Saving Time in Ukraine

KIEV, Sept. 20 – Ukraine will no longer use daylight saving time, after 266 MPs voted on Tuesday to scrap the system in the country.

"The Verkhovna Rada decrees to fix the time of the second time zone by adding one hour on the territory of Ukraine from March 27, 2011," reads the draft bill, which was authored by Oleh Nadosha from the Regions Party.


Yanukovych, at UN, asks for energy effort

Yanukovych administration announces plan for Singapore visit

KIEV, Sept. 20 – President Viktor Yanukovych is planning soon to visit to Singapore.

"Singapore's Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, at a meeting with Viktor Yanukovych on Monday, invited him to pay an official visit to Singapore, and this visit will take place shortly," Presidential Administration head Serhiy Liovochkin told reporters in Kiev on Monday.


Top court to rule on presidential power

KIEV, Sept. 21 – The Constitutional Court on Thursday will start deliberations on whether the powers of President Viktor Yanukovych be dramatically increased by canceling constitutional amendments approved back in December 2004, a newspaper reported.
