MOSCOW, Oct. 29 - The director of Moscow's Library of Ukrainian Literature has been detained by police on suspicion of inciting ethnic hatred.


Naftogaz to cut Russian gas imports and hike European supply on Nov.1

KIEV, Oct. 29 - Ukraine will cut imports of Russian natural gas starting November 1 and will focus on increasing imports of European gas, Andriy Kobolev, the head of Naftogaz Ukrayiny, said Thursday.


Ukrainians and rebels swap 20 prisoners

KIEV, Oct. 29 - Ukrainian armed forces and pro-Russian separatists on Thursday exchanged 20 prisoners in a goodwill gesture, AFP reported. The swap took weeks to organize and was the first of its kind since September 8.

Russian humanitarian aid convoy to reach Rostov region Thursday

MOSCOW, Oct. 29 – A Russian Emergency Situations Ministry convoy carrying humanitarian aid for residents of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine, which departed Russia's Moscow region on Tuesday, should reach the Rostov region in the early hours of Thursday, says Oleg Voronov, a deputy chief of the Emergency Situations Ministry national crisis management center.


Ukraine to switch to single wholesale gas price in May 2015

KIEV, Oct. 29 – Ukraine will switch to a single wholesale price of gas for all categories of consumers starting May 2015, reads a draft coalition agreement proposed by the Petro Poroshenko Bloc and posted on its Web site on Wednesday.

KIEV, Oct. 29 - Arseniy Yatseniuk said on Wednesday he expected to stay on as prime minister at the head of a new pro-Europe, reformist government as his party hung on to a slight lead in last Sunday's election with the vote count nearly complete, Reuters reported.


No deal yet in EU gas talks with Russia

BRUSSELS, Oct. 29 - Ukraine and Russia bargained late into the night on Wednesday but European Union officials trying to broker a deal to resume gas supplies to Kiev as winter sets in said there was still no accord to announce, Reuters reported.
