Yanukovych touts system modernization as alternative to South Stream

KIEV, April 22 – The project to modernize Ukraine's gas transport system could be an alternative to the South Stream project, President Viktor Yanukovych said on Thursday, stressing that Ukraine would not take any decision to "give away" its gas transport system.

KIEV, April 21 – The main points of the memorandum of economic policy of the Ukrainian authorities, a draft of which was submitted by Ukrainian officials to the International Monetary Fund on April 21, will be known after a final version is signed by the Ukrainian president, premier, finance minister and the National Bank of Ukraine head, according to Oleksandr Shlapak, the first deputy head of the Presidential Secretariat.
