Russian navy Crimea stay extended 25 yrs
KIEV, April 27 – Thousands of protesters, smoke bombs and chicken eggs thrown in Parliament did not stop President Viktor Yanukovych’s majority from approving a controversial deal extending the Russian navy’s stay in Ukraine by 25 years. |
Ukraine pays homage to victims of Chernobyl nuclear disaster
KIEV, April 26 – Ukraine on Sunday paid homage to victims of the Chernobyl catastrophe, 23 years after the worst nuclear accident in history.
"Today we remember with profound sadness those heroes who fought against the nuclear storm and sacrificed themselves for us and our children," President Viktor Yushchenko said.
