Didenko, Makarenko lawyers want to combine cases with Tymoshenko’s
KIEV, April 27 - The defense lawyers of Ihor Didenko, a deputy chairman of Naftogaz Ukrayiny, and Anatoliy Makarenko, a former chief of the Ukrainian State Customs Service, believe the criminal cases against their clients could be combined with a criminal case against former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko regarding Ukrainian-Russian gas supply contracts concluded in 2009. |
Government warns against Syria travel, calls for end to violence
KIEV, April 27 – The Foreign Ministry has issued a recommendation that Ukrainians refrain from traveling to Syria due to the worsening of the security situation in the country.
The ministry also expressed concern about violence that has lead to deaths of protestors in Syria. |

Ukraine pays homage to victims of Chernobyl nuclear disaster
KIEV, April 26 – Ukraine on Sunday paid homage to victims of the Chernobyl catastrophe, 23 years after the worst nuclear accident in history.
"Today we remember with profound sadness those heroes who fought against the nuclear storm and sacrificed themselves for us and our children," President Viktor Yushchenko said.
