Ukraine needs to make more weapons, Poroshenko says at NSDC

KIEV, Jan. 28 – President Petro Poroshenko has called upon Ukrainians to manufacture more of the military products needed by their country.


NBU forecasts $600 million balance of payments surplus this year

KIEV, Jan. 29 – The National Bank of Ukraine has revised upwards its forecast for the surplus of the country's balance of payment for 2016 to $600 million, while earlier deficit of $200 million was expected, the central bank said in a press release, referring to the decisions of the meeting of the board held on Thursday.


Official: Sanctions against 17 former officials still in effect

KIEV, Jan. 29 – The sanctions against 17 former senior Ukrainian officials are still in effect, while the ruling of the General Court of the European Union applies to the sanctions, which were valid until 2015, Serhiy Horbatiuk, head of the Special Investigations Unit of the Main Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office said.


Hryvnia outlook stable at UAH25/USD, according to NBU governor

KIEV, Jan. 29 – The situation on the currency market is stable, the hryvnia exchange rate has stabilized in the range of UAH 24.80-25.25/$1, National Bank of Ukraine Governor Valeriya Gontareva said at a press conference.
