Energy ministry calls for study of Khmelnytsky reactor construction

KIEV, Feb. 2 – The Energy and Coal Industry Ministry has sent a letter calling for additional study of the expediency of construction of reactors of Khmelnytsky nuclear power plant with existing structures to National Nuclear Energy Company EnergoAtom and national energy company Ukrenergo.


Cabinet: Gazprom response to Naftogaz arbitration due Oct. 9

KIEV, Feb. 2 – Gazprom must submit a response by October 9 to the claim initiated earlier by Ukraine's Naftogaz Ukrainy in the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC) in a dispute arising from the contracts on natural gas shipments and transit dated back to 2009, the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers said.


SPF proposes 20 companies' state-held stakes for privatization

KIEV, Feb. 2 – The State Property Fund has proposed that state-owned shares in Turboatom (Kharkiv, 75%), Zaporizhia Titanium and Magnesium Combine LLC (51%), the Joint Ukrainian-Kazakh-Russian Enterprise for Nuclear Fuel Production (Kiev) and 17 more companies managed by the fund be put up for the privatization in 2016.


ICRC to raise over $64 million to help internally displaced Ukrainians

KIEV, Feb. 3 - The International Committee of the Red Cross will raise over $64 million in 2016 for humanitarian aid to internally displaced persons and people who stay in the “anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone,“ said Hennadiy Zubko, Ukrainian Regional Development, Construction, Housing, and Utilities Economy Minister.

Budget deficit grew 20.7% last year, finance ministry reports

KIEV, Feb. 3 – The deficit of Ukraine's national budget grew by 20.7% in 2014, to UAH 78.07 billion, the Finance Ministry reported.

"The actual budget deficit in January-December 2014 amounted to UAH 78.07 billion. The actual deficit was 88.1% of the planned annual figure with changes," reads the report.


Donetsk separatist leaders warn of wage and pension payment delays

DONETSK, Feb. 3 - The leadership of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic said wage and pension payment delays could arise in 2015, given the economic siege imposed on the republic by Ukrainian authorities.
