Swiss Red Cross worker killed after shell lands near office in Donetsk

DONETSK, Oct. 3 - A Swiss Red Cross worker was killed by a shell that landed near the international organization's office in Ukraine's separatist-held city of Donetsk on Thursday, Reuters reported Friday.

KIEV, Oct. 5 - Ukraine's military accused Russian-backed separatists of again violating a month-old ceasefire on Sunday, saying their forces came under attack in several parts of the east including the airport at the city of Donetsk, Reuters reported.

EU would be incomplete without Ukraine, foreign minister says on TV

KIEV, Oct. 3 – The European Union would be incomplete without Ukraine, Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko said.

"It is impossible to complete a big European project without Ukraine, and everybody understands it. Ukraine is a large state, it is not Albania or Macedonia, and it is not Croatia… Everything that is small is easier to digest. But such a large piece as Ukraine is not to be digested - it will be added to the body of the European Union," he said in an interview on Ukrainian television's Channel 5 on Saturday night.

YALTA, Oct. 4 – Reports coming from Ukraine cast doubt on the reality of the intentions of the Ukrainian authorities to seek membership of the European Union, said Elmar Brok, a member of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs.
