Restart of Zaporizhia NPP after war may take years; new water reservoir
KYIV, July 8 – The resumption of operation of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant (NPP) after de-occupation will depend on the timing of restoration, and in fact, the new construction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant and filling the Kakhovka reservoir with water, which could take seven-eight years, says Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuriy Boiko.

Moldova seeks to supply power to Ukraine in exchange for natural gas
KYIV, July 8 – The Republic of Moldova has expressed its readiness to supply electricity to Ukraine as part of the "gas for electricity" project by installing generating units on its territory using natural gas supplied by Ukraine for this exchange, according to a joint statement by the Foreign Ministers of Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania.

Russia strikes children’s hospital in Kyiv
KYIV, July 8 - Russian missiles blasted cities across Ukraine on Monday, damaging the country’s largest children’s hospital and other buildings in a fierce assault that interrupted heart surgeries and forced young cancer patients to take their treatments outdoors. At least 37 people were killed, officials said.

USAID delivers most of promised gas piston units to ease power shortage
KYIV, July 9 – Of the 91 gas piston units transferred by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), out of 96 previously announced for transfer to Ukraine, 18 have already been connected, and this process continues, although there is a problem with financing the connection work, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuriy Boiko said.

Shmyhal optimistic about improving energy sector by end of July
KYIV, July 9 – Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal is optimistic about an improvement in the energy sector in late July.
"The government constantly focuses on energy. The situation remains very challenging. Due to the aftermath of total enemy shelling and heat, hourly outages continue. However, we expect an improvement in the situation in the late twenties of July," Shmyhal said during a government meeting on Tuesday.

EU, Ukraine sign agreement to regulate EUR 5.27-bln in grant assistance
KYIV, July 9 – First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko signed a Financial Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, which regulates the receipt of grant assistance within the Ukraine Facility in the amount of EUR 5.27 billion over the next four years, the Ministry of Economy reported on Tuesday.

NATO allies to send more air defense systems
WASHINGTON, July 9 - The U.S. and an array of other NATO allies will send Ukraine dozens of air defense systems in the coming months, including at least four of the powerful Patriot systems that Kyiv has been desperately seeking to help fight off Russian advances in the war, according to a new joint agreement.
