Poroshenko calls for boosting trade with U.S. after 70% increase

KYIV, Aug 27 - President Petro Poroshenko emphasized the importance and growth of economic cooperation with the United States.

"Our turnover has increased by 70% over a little more than a year. No country in the world demonstrates such growth.

Two soldiers killed, six wounded in Donbas

KYIV, Aug. 27 - Ukraine said two of its soldiers have been killed and six others wounded in clashes with Russia-backed separatists in the country’s east, RFE/RL reported.

The Defense Ministry said on August 27 that the fighting also left three separatists dead and seven wounded.


Ukraine seeks to buy U.S. air defenses

KYIV, Aug. 28 – Ukraine seeks to acquire an air defense system from the U.S. in a deal that may be worth over $2.25 billion, Valeriy Chaly, the Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S., said Tuesday.

The deal was discussed earlier this year between President Petro Poroshenko and U.S. President Donald Trump, and most recently with U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton during his trip to Kyiv.


Germany, France say cease-fire not holding

BERLIN, Aug. 28 — The leaders of Germany and France said Monday that despite renewed efforts to bring about a cease-fire in eastern Ukraine, the situation “has not significantly improved,” The Associated Press reported.
