Protestors storm police station in Kiev

KIEV, July 12 – Protesters stormed a police station in Kiev on Friday, breaking a fence and clashing with officers after the station had protected a policeman who had apparently beaten up a woman.


Iraq pays Ukraine for first batch of armored personnel carriers

KIEV, July 13 – Iraq has paid Ukraine in full for the first batch of Ukrainian BTR-4 armored personnel carriers, manufactured at a Kharkiv plant under a $550 million contract with Iraq and supplied to the customer in April-May 2011, according to a source at a bank familiar with the details of the contract.


Ukraine and Turkey to hold strategic council in November-December

KIEV, July 13 – The first meeting of a high-level strategic council between Ukraine and Turkey is to be held in November-December and chaired by Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported on Wednesday.

Tymoshenko party to sue government to block 50% natural gas increase

KIEV, July 14 – Former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said her party will sue the government to try to stop a 50% hike in natural gas prices for households scheduled on August 1.
