US guided missile destroyer departs Black Sea as Sea Breeze concludes

WASHINGTON, Sept. 14 - A joint series of exercises between Ukraine and the U.S. has ended and guided missile destroyer USS Donald Cook (DDG-75) has left the Black Sea, U.S. 6th Fleet announced on Monday.


Canada troops arrive for training mission

YAVORIV, Sept. 14 - A Ukrainian military band, accompanied by twirling dancers in traditional dress, welcomed 200 Royal Canadian Regiment soldiers participating in Operation Unifier, the Canadian military’s mission to help train Ukrainian army units for war against the Russian-backed separatists who control swaths of eastern Ukraine, The Globe and Mail reported.

Duma official: Gazprom/Naftogaz merger may change pipeline stance

KIEV, Sept. 13 – The unification of the Russian gas giant Gazprom and Ukraine's national gas company Naftogaz Ukrayiny into a joint venture may cause Russia to change its position on the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline, Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma, President of the Russian Gas Society Valery Yazev has said.
