KIEV, Jan. 27 – The Metallurgprom association of metal companies (Dnipropetrovsk) has pointed out the difficult situation in the Ukrainian mining and metal industry, in particular with regards to metal companies, and has called on the Ukrainian government to take this into account when deciding if they will increase railway tariffs for freight transportation.
According to a letter from the association to Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk, the draft order of the Infrastructure Ministry on amendments to coefficients applied to tariffs from the book of tariffs for rail transportation in Ukraine, and services affiliated with them, envisages that from February 2015 the tariffs for shipments by rail, fees for the use of rail cars and other affiliated fees are to be indexed by 30% for all freight, apart from coal, for which the indexation is foreseen to be 10% from February and 18.2% from April.
