KIEV, Jan. 12 – Ukrainian Sports and Youth Minister Ihor Zhdanov doubts that EuroBasket 2017 will be held in Ukraine.
"We talked to Volkov [President of the Basketball Federation of Ukraine (BFU) Oleksandr Volkov] about this situation. While we are at war, there will be no EuroBasket for us. For now, holding EuroBasket in Ukraine isn't realistic, as well as doing it in 2017, as it requires money," he said during an Internet conference on xsport.ua website on Monday.
According to Zhdanov, if the BFU manages to find non-budget funding, the ministry will do its part to help organize the championship.
