KIEV, Dec. 5 – The violation by Russia of its commitments after the signing of the Budapest Memorandum poses a threat to the entire international nuclear security system and undermines the regime of nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction in general, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
In a statement issued on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Budapest Memorandum the Foreign Ministry recalls that on December 5, 1994, Britain, Russia and the United States signed in Budapest the Memorandum on Security Assurances in connection with Ukraine's accession to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
