ASHGABAT, Dec. 29 - Gazprom, Russia's state-controlled natural gas monopoly, will import 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Turkmenistan in 2006, according to an agreement signed Thursday.

The agreement, which comes a week after Turkmenistan had agreed to supply next year 40 billion cu m of gas to Ukraine, may pose challenges for Ukraine due to limited existing pipeline capacities.
