KIEV, Nov. 3 - Ukraine, facing a shortage of energy in the winter, seeks to resume supplies of coal from territories that are controlled by pro-Russian separatists, Yuriy Ziukov, deputy energy and coal industry minister, said Monday.
The Moscow-backed separatists now control parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions that harbor most of Ukraine’s coal mining and steel industry. More than half of Ukraine’s coal mines are currently in the hands of the separatists.
