Kiev plans energy saving measures and coal imports to survive winter
Journal Staff Report

KIEV, Oct. 23 - Ukraine used 17% less natural gas this year and the government plans more energy saving measures and coal imports to survive the winter, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said.

The comments, released by the government on Thursday, come two days after Ukraine and Russia have failed to sign an agreement in Brussels that would lead to resumption of Russian gas supplies to Ukraine that had been suspended since June 16.
