KIEV, Aug. 18 - Ukraine on Saturday started testing a natural gas pipeline that helps the country to import European gas via Slovakia, the national energy company Naftogaz Ukrayiny reported over the weekend.

The test-run of the Vojany-Uzhgorog gas pipeline comes as Ukraine prepares to begin massive imports of European gas in September to compensate for Russian gas supplies that have been suspended on June 16.
