Former Tatar leader predicts EU won't cut deal with Moscow on Crimea

SIMFEROPOL, July 1 - Former leader of the Mejlis (parliament) of the Crimean Tatar People and MP Mustafa Jemilev has expressed confidence that the European Union will not come to any terms with Russia regarding Crimea.

During the "Yedyna Krayina! Yedinanaya Strana!" telethon organized jointly by the Journalists Investigation Center and Black Sea TV Company, Jemilev said by phone from Strasburg (France) that he had discussed the situation in Crimea with Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland and EP members who said that they are determined to do everything possible to restore the status quo ante on the peninsula.
