KIEV, June 17 – The Ukrainian authorities have ineffectively spent tens of millions of euros that were earlier allocated by the European Union to strengthen Ukraine's state border, EU Ambassador to Ukraine Jan Tombinski said.

"As for the border with Russia, we, as the EU, provided tens of millions of euros to help Ukrainian border guards. What we get now - Ukrainian border guards ask for money to buy everything. And what happened to the money that was given by the EU?'' he said at the 4th national expert forum'' From Revolution to a new country'' in Kiev on Tuesday.

He said that in this regard, Ukraine has to deal with corruption and introduce transparency in the process,'' because earlier these funds were used ineffectively."
