SIMFEROPOL, June 13 – The Mejlis (parliament) of the Crimean Tatar People has said it is concerned over cases of kidnapping and disappearances of people in Crimea, as well as Crimean authorities' lack of response to such cases.
"Over the last few months Crimean society has faced an extremely dangerous phenomenon, which isn't new to Crimea – the abduction of people," reads an appeal to the international organizations "On the Prevention in Crimea of Kidnapping and the Disappearance of People", which was approved at a Mejlis sitting on Thursday, the parliament's press service reported.
The document says that in early March 2014 Reshat Ametov, father of three children who belongs to Muslim congregation, was abducted and later found dead, having been brutally tortured.
