KIEV, Dec. 7 ??“ U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, visiting Kiev on Wednesday, called Ukraine a strategic partner and pledged support for the country??™s aspirations in joining the World Trade Organization and NATO.

"America values the friendship of Ukraine as a strategic partner and an important country within Europe," Rice said at a joint press conference after talks with President Viktor Yushchenko.
