BRUSSELS, April 30 - Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN Yuriy Serheyev has said that there is a high probability of Russia's realizing the "Abkhazian scenario" in east Ukraine, one of the purposes of which is to disrupt the upcoming presidential elections scheduled for May 25.
Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting in New York on Tuesday, the Ukrainian diplomat said: "We are deeply concerned that the scenario which is prepared for eastern Ukraine might be similar to the one implemented by Russia in Abkhazia... Unfortunately, we must say that it is a very realistic scenario. There are reports that Russian military vehicles with inscriptions in Ukrainian and Russian reading 'peacekeeping mission' are moving along the border with Ukraine. This is exactly what had happened in Abkhazia. One of the purposes of this scenario is to disrupt the presidential elections scheduled for May 25."
