KIEV, Dec. 1 ??“ Parliament voted Thursday to give the government one extra week to work on 2006 budget draft before it is submitted to legislature for approval in the middle of December, lawmakers said.

Finance Minister Viktor Pynzenyk, who defended the draft in Parliament, said the government had agreed to increase the budget deficit to 2.5% of the gross domestic product, up from 1.9% originally suggested.
