KIEV, March 12 - Ukraine’s transit of Russian natural gas to Europe fell by 25% year-on-year to 4.8 billion cubic meters in February from 6.4 billion cu m shipped in February 2013 and down from 7.4 billion cu m shipped in January, the state-owned natural gas shipping monopoly UkrTransGaz reported Wednesday.
Ukraine is the main supplier of Russian gas to Europe as it accounts for more than a half of such shipments.
“Ukraine’s gas transportation system operates in a reliable way and secures continuous gas delivery to domestic consumers and also to Europe,” the company said in the statement.
