BRYANSK, Feb. 25 - The situation prevailing in Ukraine prevents Russian veterinary specialists from traveling there to determine with their Ukrainian counterparts what of that country's regions can export pork to Russia due to the presence of African swine fever (ASF) in that country.
"Our specialists from the territorial administrations of Rostov and Volgograd Regions cannot go to Ukraine to conduct the 'regionalization' of pork deliveries in association with ASF, since their security cannot be ensured [due to the civil unrest in the country]," the chief of Russian food safety watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergei Dankvert, told the press on Tuesday in Bryansk.
