SIMFEROPOL, Dec. 24 – Crimean Prime Minister Anatoliy Mohyliov has said that the building in Crimea of a deepwater port together with Chinese investors, a document on which was signed during the visit by Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to Beijing on December 5, is possible only after an environmental study is completed.
This is according to a speech given by the Crimean premier at a press conference in Simferopol on Tuesday after ecologists sent him a letter telling that the building of the deep-water port in the village of Frunze of Saky region would erode beaches and destroy the so-called golden sands on the Crimea western coast.
"I've got a letter. Since it was written by competent people, I'm ready to consider this opinion, any project will have to undergo an environmental study, and only after that will it be approved," he said.
