Journal Staff Report

KIEV, Dec. 9 – The fall in Ukraine's GDP has reached 0.6%, the Ukrainian government's commissioner for cooperation with Russia, CIS states, the Eurasian Economic Community and other regional associations, Valeriy Muntiyan, said on Monday.

"As for today's situation: we have a fall in GDP of 0.6%, but we planned that we'll see growth," he said.

Muntiyan said that it is important to ensure there is political stability as economic problems are tackled.

According to the State Statistics Service, Ukraine's GDP has fallen for five quarters in a row. In 2013 the downward pace accelerated from 1.1% in the first quarter of 2013 to 1.3% in the second quarter, and to 1.5% in the third quarter.
