KIEV, Oct. 22 – Ukraine as a shareholder in International Uranium Enrichment Center (IUEC, Angarsk, Russia) plans to increase the volume of uranium enrichment for its own needs by using quotas not used by other shareholders in the center, IUEC Commercial Director Gleb Efremov told Ukrainian reporters in Angarsk.
"Yes, Ukraine has submitted this proposal. During the forum [held in Kiev in late September] we met Acting Director General of Nuclear Fuel State Concern Borys Bilyk and the issue was discussed at the meeting," he said, adding that at present, Kazakhstan and Armenia are shareholders in the IUEC, but the countries do not use their quota for uranium enrichment.
