KIEV, Oct. 14 – Ukraine should effectively defend its national interests without destroying the traditional links with neighboring countries, President Viktor Yanukovych said.

"We shouldn't break anything in any case. We should walk an evolutionary path. Let's be frank: what standards is Russia seeking? The same [European] standards," he said at a meeting with women Heroes of Ukraine on Monday.
