BRUSSELS, Oct. 14 – The European Commission is considering the possibility of storing natural gas at Ukraine's underground gas storage facilities to ensure greater supply security, EU Energy Commissioner Gunther Oettinger said.
"Ukraine is becoming not just a transit country for transporting gas from Russia, as it also has gas storage potential. Ukraine has the greatest opportunities for gas storage. We are considering [the possibility of storing] 35 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas, or probably up to 60 bcm," he said at a press conference in Brussels on Monday.
