KIEV, Sept. 24 – Uman (Cherkasy region) has summed up the results of the visits of Hasidic Jews to celebrate Jewish New Year.
According to official data, this year from September 1 to September 11 a record number of Hasidic Jews visited Uman – 27,011 from 15 countries of the world, of whom 2,483 were children, and 15 women. Most of the guests arrived from Israel – 26,360.
A total of 796 vehicles brought Jews from Boryspil airport, 92 from Odessa, and 102 from other places. About 2,500 people lived in a tent camp. About 20,000 people lived in Uman's housing stock, while usually about 1,000 Uman citizens live there. The housing fund signed an agreement with the Rahman International Charitable Foundation, which paid UAH 22,700 for the additional servicing of the housing stock.
