KIEV, Sept. 17 – Ukrainian automobile manufacturers this year are forecast to produce around 52,000-55,000 vehicles, which is 32-38% down on 2012 (76,200 vehicles), said Mykhailo Reznik head of the Ukrautoprom Association.
"This year we expect that 52,000 vehicles, or no more than 55,000 vehicles, will be produced if exports resume. Next year up to 100,000 vehicles could be produced if the present situation on support of the automobile industry and further steps on stimulation of demand continues. The situation in the sector today is very difficult," he told Interfax-Ukraine at the Stolychne Auto Show on Saturday, September 14.
He said at a press conference that the introduction of measures to support the Ukrainian automobile industry has increased its share of total sales of passenger cars from 13% to 20%.
