KIEV, Sept. 9 – Ukraine's aspirations for European integration do not contradict its cooperation with Russia and the CIS member states, said MP Mykhailo Chechetov, first deputy Regions Party chairman.
"This is his [Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev's] opinion and of course they want us to reject the European Union today… But I would like to stress once again that our aspirations for Europe are not opposed to Russia and the CIS… We don't want to lose anything here [in the EU] or there [in the Customs Union]," Chechetov said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, while commenting on recent statement of Medvedev saying that if Ukraine signs the Association Agreement with the EU, the Customs Union will be closed to Kiev.
