KIEV, Sept. 5 – Ukraine's energy policy is aimed at the diversification of gas supplies, President Viktor Yanukovych said.

During a meeting with candidates for positions of heads of district state administrations, he noted that Ukraine has started to buy gas on the European market, where it is much cheaper than in Russia.

"We will keep following this way if we don't reach common ground with our Russian partners," the president said.
