KIEV, Aug. 30 – A lack of competence of the authorities is one factor hindering the development of the national economy, President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

"Of course, there are many errors, including due to [the absence] of competence of the heads of entire departments, sectors, including in the local authorities and, of course, the heads of various ministries and agencies. There is a lack of competence, they don't want to learn. There is stagnation, and this is very bad," Yanukovych said in an interview with Ukrainian television channels broadcast on the 1+1 TV channel on Friday.
