KIEV, Aug. 6 – A group of pro-government and opposition MP belonging to the parliamentary committee for tax and customs policies, have proposed that from January 1, 2014 the excise duty on alcohol and tobacco be increased, in part for the purpose of financing the Okhmatdyt National Children's Hospital.

Lawmakers Andriy Senchenko, Serhiy Terekhin (both from the Batkivschyna faction) and Mykhailo Opanaschenko (Regions) submitted the measure to Parliament.
