KIEV, July 18 – Viacheslav Ovcharenko, a close and long-time ally of President Viktor Yanukovych, was elected on Thursday to head the Constitutional Court, Ukrayinska Pravda reported, citing a source.

This is the latest promotion of some of the closest people to Yanukovych to key positions in courts and other judiciary bodies ahead of the next presidential election due in March 2015.
