KIEV, July 16 – The protection of intellectual property rights and combating piracy in Ukraine is of current importance and of a systemic character, although solving the problem will require a lot of time and money, Andriy Honcharuk, an advisor to the Ukrainian president and head of the chief department for foreign affairs at the presidential administration.
"We're taking comprehensive measures to improve laws in the relevant area, including as part of the implementation of an action plan on the improvement of the intellectual property rights protection system jointly with the United States. One positive example of action in the area could be a decision of the government on a procedure for using budget funds this year [UAH 100 million] on the realization of measures to legalize software at government organizations in Ukraine," he said in his article for the Dzerkalo Tyzhnia Ukraine newspaper.
