KIEV, July 3 – Ukrainian cement companies will have to stop 50% of rotary kilns if the government does not take into account their needs in imported coal during the distribution of coal imports quotas, Ukrcement Association Chairman Miguel Machado told Interfax-Ukraine.
"Of course, the non-distribution of the quotas will impact the price of cement, as cement plants will be stopped, because most of them are not able to consume only Ukrainian coal. I think that around 50% of rotary kilns will be stopped. The owners of the plants do not want to damage equipment, as it would be more expensive to repair it," he said.
He found it difficult to predict the increase in the prices of cement if the plants are stopped.
