KIEV, June 10 – Employees of Ukraine's aviation sector will be among the first civil employees in Europe to receive training to identify potential victims of human trafficking as part of a plan to increase global cooperation in the fight against modern day slavery.
A relevant workshop is being held as part of an international plan promoted by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Special Representative on Human Trafficking Issues U.S. Congressman Chris Smith, who is in Kiev this week introducing a measure to increase partnerships between law enforcement and the travel industry to better combat human trafficking, according to a press release posted on the Web site of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
"We are all responsible for ending this dehumanizing crime, but the fact is that airline, hotel and transportation professionals are in a unique position to identify potential victims, and to get them the help they need," Smith said.
