KIEV, June 7 – Ukraine has asked the World Bank to resume direct support to the country's budget, according to the government.
"The proposal was that [the World Bank] re-launch a project for direct budget support and raise limits of lending for the portfolio of projects in Ukraine," the press service said in a report about the Ukrainian side's proposals put forth during a meeting between Ukraine's First Vice Premier Serhiy Arbuzov and a World Bank delegation.
The delegation was led by Frank Heemskerk, the recently appointed Executive Director at the World Bank, who represents a constituency of countries, including Ukraine.
