KIEV, June 6 - Ukraine plans to build and put into operation a new generation radar system using an advanced digital array technology by 2017, State Space Agency of Ukraine (SSAU) Chairman Yuriy Alekseyev said.
The new system will replace the outdated Ukrainian radar stations in Sevastopol and Mukacheve and will be more efficient in performing its space situation control duties, the SSAU said in a press release posted on the SSAU Web site on Wednesday concerning the plans to upgrade the Sevastopol and Mukacheve radar centers and improve the efficiency of the space situation control system.
Ukraine plans to modernize its space situation control system at two phases, Alekseyev said.
