KIEV, June 3 - The Cabinet of Ministers intends in the near future to set requirements to ensure a certain degree of car production localization if car industry enterprises want to get benefits on imports of components and equipment for the modernization of production, First Deputy head of the State Agency for State Corporate Rights and Property Management Oleksandr Kalenkov said.
"Right now we are developing amendments to the resolution, which will define which enterprises will qualify for benefits on imports of components and equipment for modernization. Now it is at the final stage of approval and it will be submitted to the Justice Ministry, and then approved," Kalenkov told journalists at a briefing in Kiev.
According to Kalenkov, the document will set specific requirements for businesses similar to those in the Russian Federation [on the industrial assembly of cars], in particular that they have to ensure a certain degree of localization "within a year or two or three years."
